GSN Review: Kentucky Senator John G. Carlisle Bourbon
Lightly sweet, but with a pop of rye spice, this bourbon fits the mash bill. (Little humor there). Really smooth, but with a nice bite from the oak aging, this is a wood forward bourbon. Notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, tobacco leaf, brown bread and dried apple mingle together, creating a melange of autumnal flavors. An elegant mouthfeel, this is a wonderful sipper, even at the higher than bottled-in-bond proof. But, add some water or a rock or two to bring the heat down, and it calms into a smooth and friendly libation. This is a great release to seek out for bourbon aficionados.
