[GEORGETOWN, KY.] — Country Boy Brewing is partnering with Kentucky Senator Spirits on this year’s release of their bourbon barrel aged Imperial Brown Ale, Double Barrel Shotgun Wedding.
As an annual release for Country Boy Brewing, Double Barrel Shotgun Wedding is one of the most sought-afterbeer releases of the year. This imperial brown ale is brewed to over 12% abv, aged over real whole vanilla beans and then aged in bourbon barrels for a minimum of 10 months.
This year’s brew was aged in barrels from Kentucky Senator’s fifth small batch release. The bourbon came out of the barrels with notes of brown sugar, sweet cinnamon, hot chocolate and marshmallow.
“We are proud of the collaboration between Country Boy Brewing and Kentucky Senator Bourbon, two brands with strong Kentucky ties,” said Kentucky Senator Spirits founders Andre Regard and Damon Thayer. “With this once-a-year release of Country Boy Double Barrel Shotgun Wedding, aged in our 9-year ‘Senator John Brown’ release barrels, we will be part of a unique taste that beer and bourbon drinkers are sure to enjoy.”
“These flavors lend themselves perfectly to our imperial brown ale,” said Evan Coppage, co-founder and head of brewery operations for Country Boy Brewing. “Double Barrel Shotgun Wedding has always leaned on the sweeter side of beer, and Kentucky Senator Bourbon leads with that profile.”
Available to the public on Black Friday, November 29, in all Country Boy taprooms, Double Barrel Shotgun Wedding will be served on tap with a pairing of Kentucky Senator Bourbon Batch 5. The beer will also available in four-pack cans to take home.
